Young people invited to try water sports
PRESS RELEASE by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council
ISSUED 13 APRIL 2012
YOUNG people in Hinckley & Bosworth will be able to try a variety of water sports this spring as part of Sport England's Olympic Legacy programme, Sportivate.
A local scheme, Paddle for Life, will take place at the Hinckley Water Activities Training Centre in May, enabling young people aged between 14 and 25 years of age to try out various paddle sports.
Not only will they learn how to paddle canoes and kayaks for fun, but Olympic 2012 disciplines of marathon and slalom can be given a go as part of an eight week programme. The British Canoe Union 1 Star Award can be awarded on completion of this course.
Sessions will be led by water sports instructor Steve Burrows, starting on Tuesday 1 May (6.30pm to 8.30pm) at The Wharf Yard, Coventry Road, Hinckley. All equipment will be provided and the cost will be £25 per person for the eight week course.
Those who complete the course will be able to continue throughout the summer with a three week free membership offered to those interested.
To book a place contact Steve on: sbtrng@hotmail.com; mobile: 07710 120564 or via the website: www.hwatc.co.uk
The sessions are funded by Sport England's Olympic Legacy programme Sportivate, which targets 14 to 25 year olds who aren't currently taking part in sport and gives them the opportunity to join a sports club and continue in the sport at the end of the eight week programme.

Book your places NOW!
If you are interested, please fill contact Siân at Wykin Community House (610115) by 26.04.12.
