Welcome to Community Action Hinckley & Bosworth.

Community Action Hinckley & Bosworth (CAHB) is a community development and regeneration organisation which continues in its aim to provide a range of services to meet the needs of the local community. Working positively with individuals and organisations; developing stronger, empowered communities is at the heart of what we do.

With offices at Gwendoline Community House, Wykin and at the Earl Shilton Community House, CAHB is the home of the Neighbourhood Management and Stronger Communities Team and ROSE Project Development Worker.

The Neighbourhood Action & Stronger Communities Team is working in six specific areas within Barwell, Earl Shilton, Bagworth & Thornton, Burbage and Hinckley which are known as priority neighbourhoods. The team supports local people and groups to become more involved in improving their area – highlighting and working on the issues that they say are important to them. From this, action plans are made, developed to bring together the needs of the community and the key issues for the area. The action plans turn ideas and words into actions and reality.

We are a reporting centre for Hate Incidents where people can come to report any incidents where they feel they have been targeted due to their age, disability, gender, race, religion/ belief or sexual orientation.

We are also a centre for First Contact referrals. By completing a simple checklist people can access a whole host of services without going to the trouble of contacting all of the various different organisations so they can receive vital services to stay safe and independent in their own homes.

We actively encourage local volunteering and work closely with Voluntary Action LeicesterShire. If you are interested in volunteering you can make an appointment to see VAL’s District Volunteer Advisor by telephoning the helpline on 0116 257 5050. If you live in one of the priority areas you can contact your local Community House to find out about community volunteering opportunities in your neighbourhood.

We signpost individuals and volunteers to all the help that is available, and through the VOICE forum, aim to ensure that the voice of the community and voluntary organisations is heard by local statutory agencies.
